Mother, Author, Grandmother: Introducing Carolyn
Raised in Upstate New York, I was on the swim team at the YMCA and won the bronze medal in diving at a Western New York competition. In high school, I was on the swim team, track team and soccer team, as well as playing flute in the band. My first job during high school was at the local community library.
Initially, I pursued an education with Monroe Community College, where I earned an Associate of Applied Science in liberal arts in 1983. Later, I concluded my studies with ScreenWriters University, completing coursework from 2017 to 2018. Furthermore, I am a member of the Global Society of Empowered Women, a former volunteer for the United Way of Greater Rochester, and a former member of the board of directors for the YMCA. In 2019, I was accepted for inclusion in Marquis Who's Who in the World.
At age twenty one, I began writing poetry for two years and set it aside to focus on motherhood and my prior career at Eastman Kodak Company. As a single mother who raised three children with the help of family and friends, I am the proud mother of Timothy, Lisa and Michelle and the proud grandmother of Piper, Harper, Skye and Rocky.
In 2013, I restarted my writing journey. Becoming an author had been my dream since childhood. Writing is my passion. I have now completed writing seventy short stories, a novel, three novellas, four children's stories and over two hundred poems. I published some of that work in my first book, "MAPS: Mystery, Adventure, Poetry, Suspense," in 2017, which received first place in the Book of Fame award by Global Summit House in 2021. My second book, “ATLAS: Poems That Map The Way To Your Heart,” was published in 2019, and "GPS: Great Poems & Stories" was published in 2020. My first novel, "A Mystery on Gray Street" was also published in 2020 as well as "The Ride of Our Lives." Additionally, "Crossing Gray Street" was published in 2021 and "Hollywood: Starring Stories & Poems" was published in 2022.
